Demographic Profiling
Demographic profiling groups the audience into smaller groups based on variables such as age, gender, religion, geographical area, class, economics, sexuality etc. This method groups people according to the lives they lead or their social or economic status. My target audience would most likely be in group E of the socio-economic scale (Unskilled, pensioners and unemployed- mainly students). This is because they have the time to search for new, individual artists and are determined to be the first to know.Psychographic Profiling
This suggests that things aim to appeal to the audiences emotions and psychological needs. Other studies such as Young and Rubicams Cross-cultural consumer characteristics, this characterises people in terms of their personal aspirations. Young and Rubicam said there were four categories of audience based upon these aspirations: Mainstreamers, Aspirers, Succeeders, Reformers. My target audience would be Aspirers - Motivated by status, they buy smart, high tech and high fashion goods. This supports the demographic profiling as they will want to be the first to know about everything.
